ABOUT CASSANDRA FIELD

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Addiction Counselor III, (CACIII). As a professional psychotherapist and supervisor, I specialize as a change agent in the process of helping you become the person you want to be. Additionally I am trained and qualified at clinical/coaching supervision, the treatment and recovery of addictions, anxiety and depression, grief and loss, trauma resolution and recovery. Having worn many hats in different settings - group and individual supervision, both inpatient and outpatient treatment programs as well as private practice. I am confident and well versed in all aspects of the treatment continuum-from those new to therapy as well as practicing clinicians/coaches seeking supervision.

Drawing from broad range of innovative counseling modalities, I tailor my approach to the systemic and developmental needs of each individual and or family system.  I am dynamic and strength based in my approach. My mission is to support my clients in recognizing and manifesting their full potential and authentic self. Even when we feel stuck, I believe people are inherently designed for positive growth, healing and change. With the appropriate support, everybody thrives! In cooperation with the client/coach, I work to uncover the unique wisdom within each individual.

My theoretical orientation combines Somatic and Experiential Psychotherapy and my method of working is multi-dimensional and holistic. Somatic Psychotherapy consists of body psychotherapy and movement therapy which uses body-based  awareness and movement to facilitate emotional, physical, cognitive, energetic and spiritual change. Movement therapy assumes that physical movement patterns are an integral part of the personality. By working with these patterns of movement, both psychological and physiological processes are revealed, released and transformed. A better understanding of one’s motivational drives and patterns of adaptation, can illuminate alternatives to unhealthy, or un-useful habits. Experiential  therapy works with immediate experience. Experiential therapy aligns with the concrete level of experience and through a variety of action oriented treatment modalities such as art, movement, journaling, visualization, music and or meditation a new sense of inner agency and effectiveness is possible. As this process unfolds, the person has more choice and skills to move toward wholeness  and personal goals.

The variety of methods I use include; Somatic Psychotherapy, Experiential Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Family Systems, Brainspotting for trauma resolution, Somatic Experiencing. I am certified in Strategies for Self-Improvement and Change (SSIC) and Seeking Safety for Trauma.

Additionally, I teach and coach wellness education, yoga therapy and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. My expertise in somatic psychology, family systems, addiction, recovery, play/movement and creativity offer unique solutions for every client I serve. My approach is grounded in the theory and the science of change.
